DARK SENSE gets its world premiere at Boston Sci-Fi Festival

If you happen to be in the Boston, Massachusetts area… DARK SENSE, a paranormal thriller feature I co-wrote, is getting its world premiere at the opening of the Boston Sci-Fi Festival on 8 February.

Simon has premonitions of a serial killer’s dark deeds. He knows he must try to stop the killer, but in doing so, he dooms himself.

It was filmed in Edinburgh, Scotland, and based on the bestselling novel First and Only by Peter A. Flannery. @BostonSciFi @darksensemovie

Sitges Fantastic Film Festival

I’ll be attending the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain from 4th to 8th October, meeting with producers looking for genre screenwriters (horror, sci-fi, action, thriller). If you’re going, drop me a line and let’s see if we can link up.

In which the Writer wins the Genre Summit Screenplay Competition

My contained low-budget horror script THE DEVIL’S ANSWER won the inaugural Genre Summit Screenplay Competition (there were 3 winners in total). Prizes include consultations with a manager and a multi-produced director.

Logline: In a remote, cut-off prison, a dedicated torturer starts to believe that his mysterious single prisoner is the Devil himself.

If you’re a film industry pro and would like to read this competition-winning screenplay, please get in touch via the contact page.

In which my horror script THE DEVIL’S ANSWER is optioned…

Very pleased to report that my contained supernatural horror THE DEVIL’S ANSWER has been optioned by Two Tribes, a production company based in Los Angeles.

The logline: In a remote, snowbound prison run by a totalitarian regime, a dedicated torturer starts to believe that his mysterious, single prisoner is the Devil himself.

The Devil's Answer

The script was found on InkTip. Two Tribes are a new production company, and are now raising finance for a slate of three films including THE DEVIL’S ANSWER.

This is my second option this year for a low-budget horror screenplay.

To Hollywood and beyond!

ZOMBIE PATROL wins Horror Screenplay Contest & goes into production

My script ZOMBIE PATROL won the International Horror Screenplay Competition run by Visceral Films – and the movie is scheduled for production later in 2016, with the principal location being the Land of Illusion Horror Theme Park in Ohio.

I’m rather chuffed about this.

Here’s what the Visceral Films site says:

“Geoff Holder’s story works in so many different ways- it’s a character-driven horror rompfest complete with humor and a great story arc. It highlights the Land of Illusion theme park and the mission of the contest perfectly.

The competition was intense- Geoff’s work was selected from within a field of other writers spanning the globe from the US to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

As winner of the contest, Mr. Holder will have Zombie Patrol produced, be credited as its writer, and be paid commensurate with an independent $2m feature length project. Additionally, he will have a first look deal with Visceral Films.

Zombie Patrol immediately enters development and becomes part of Visceral’s 2016 slate of film projects.”

I’ll be posting regular updates as the amazing production team take the movie through pre-production into the filming phase.

NB Mmmmm….brains!
